Session 3

The long-term aim of governments world-wide is to increase usage of public transport. This article describes how effective information distribution can aid in this process.

It discusses how providing current information to passengers where and when they need it provides them with choices and control, thereby decreasing the anxiety and stress associated with waiting at a bus stop.

A change in public perception of bus transport is seen to eventually result in an increase in passenger numbers.

The main focus of the article is on the need to understand that the value of information depends on where and how it is utilised – central city and retail stops are very different to the stop outside someone’s house.
