Dr Kathi Holt-Damant is a researcher, teacher and practitioner in architecture and urban design at the University of Queensland and she will explore the linkage between railway transport and land-use in terms of quality of the urban environment using a pilot study conducted in Brisbane’s inner West

Mike Veitch, Managing Director of Veitch Lister Consulting, has designed, calibrated and implemented integrated travel forecasting models for several major cities and has extensive experience in the wider aspects of transport planning, particularly in public transport policy and operations and strategic road network planning

Adele Eagleton has been involved in the property industry for over 16 years and is currently the Executive Project Manager of the Bovis Lend Lease (BLL) Transport and Infrastructure Business Unit. †She will talk about Lend Lease’s approach to planning and gives an overview of two current developments.

Chairman of the Infrastructure Association of Queensland, John McEvoy, will provide commentary on SEQ infrastructure needs and how to realise them through appropriate and realistic financing arrangements.

John Larcombe, Director, Infrastructure Coordination, of Queensland’s Office of Urban Management will describe the new South East Queensland Regional plan (to be launched in October 2004) and how it will influence private and public planning and investment decisions.

Well known Sydney transport planner, Garry Glazebrook, will discuss how accessibility is the critical link between land use and transport. Garry will report on his extensive research on this topic in Sydney including his survey of how people in Sydney value accessibility in relation to housing choices and access.

Barry Gyte, consultant planner, who is closely involved with major public transport infrastructure development in SEQ and Manchester, UK, will identify the crucial linkage between integrating land use and transport development plans for maximum community benefit.
Leon Fleming Brisbane City Council planner Leon Fleming will describe current planning projects undertaken by Council officers that shed some light on how to enhance transport and land use through appropriate zoning and regulatory change.

Anson
Geoff Anson - consultant and former senior Executive of Department of Infrastructure, Victoria, will provide insights into how integrated transport planning can work with the commercial market, rather than in conflict. He is currently advising the NSW government on new processes for transport planning in Sydney.
Prof Phil Charles Professor Phil Charles, Director Centre for Transport Strategy at the University of Queensland, has a broad experience in senior transport strategy roles across Australia. He will talk about institutional and coordination issues and getting the strategic framework in place: ie strategic planning, organisational structure and arrangements, strategic and operational processes and appropriate levels of resourcing.
