Policy Guideline on Transport Planning and Traffic Management for Better Air Quality by Phil Sayeg for Asian Development Bank 2003

Concerned with the increasing levels of air pollution caused by motor vehicles in Asia’s major cities, the Asian Development Bank initiated a project on Reducing Vehicle Emissions in November 2000. Phil Sayeg wrote the guideline Transport Planning and Traffic Management for Better Air Quality under a contract to the Asian Development Bank. This was developed while Phil acted as the transport resource person for the two regional workshops on air quality held in Manila, Philippines, Transport Planning, Demand Management and Air Quality from 26-28 February 2002; and the Concluding Workshop 28 February to 1 March 2002. From these workshops a synthesis of the transport planning workshop, and the policy guideline on transport planning to reduce air pollution were prepared.
